Upcoming Workshops

Preserving Your Harvest
Wednesday, September 28 at 6pm
Educator: Amy Jolin

Are you interested in eating your garden produce during the long months of winter? Come to our workshop and learn different techniques on preserving your garden harvest. This hands-on workshop will introduce participants to easy harvest preservation techniques such as freezing, blanching, canning, pickling and jam making.

Participants will be able to take home a sampling of the food they have preserved.


Winter Gardening
Wednesday, October 12 at 6pm
Educator: Shaun Anako

A burst of spring blooms requires planning in the fall. Participants will learn how to plant fall bulbs, the best varieties for their garden and how to prepare a bed for a winter crop of garlic. Additionally, season extension techniques such as row covers, cold frames and cover cropping will be discussed.

Starting From Seed
Saturday, March 12 at 10am
Educator: Melina McCall

Have you ever wanted to start seeds for your garden but did not know how? Come to our "Starting from Seed" workshop and learn the ins and outs of starting seeds and the care they need to flourish. The workshop will also discuss how to schedule your seeding to make the best use of spring and summer transplants in your garden. Participants will be provided with one set of seed starting cell trays and lids to care for their seeds at home!

Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own organic seeds.



Planning and Caring For Your Vegetable Garden
Wednesday, April 13 at 6pm
Educator: Todd Gustafson

This workshop will cover all the elements of a successful garden plan followed by a discussion on how to plant and care for garden favorites. Participants will be instructed on selecting the varieties best suited for urban gardens, sustainable garden practices, harvesting techniques and other do's and don'ts of gardening.


Healthy Soil and Composting
Saturday, May 7 at 1pm (tentative)
Educator: Jose German

A soil workshop for great garden results! Participants will learn soil health basics and identify ways to check the health of the soil. The workshop will cover how to amend garden soil as well as how to improve problem soil. Participants will also be introduced to the basics of composting and explore a variety of composting options. Practical tips and other troubleshooting issues for potential composting challenges will be discussed.

Organic Pest Management
Wednesday, June 8 at 6pm
Educator: Shaun Anako

Learn techniques to manage pests in your garden effectively and without harmful chemicals. Participants will learn to identify beneficial insects as well as the bad bugs. Participants will review basic to advanced techniques for managing pests organically, such as companion planting and integrated pest management. Participants will learn some effective ways to address the most common insect infestations.


Farm To Table Food Demo

Educator: Chef Josh Bernstein

Join Chef Josh Bernstein of Spuntino Wine and Bar as he prepares easy and affordable dishes using farm fresh, seasonal produce from the City Green farms. Learn various recipes that you can make using veggies and herbs from your home or community garden!
